Martin Luther King, Jr.

As a child I loved History. I especially loved a few historical and inspirational people who used their life to try to make a better place for others. One of those people that I was always intrigued and inspired by was Martin Luther King, Jr.  I loved this Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “dreams” included helping others- and dreaming of a better place for him and his children. There are so many wonderful quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr. that I wanted to share my top  5 and let his words, although he is gone, still speak to us today. My Top Five Favorite Martin Luther King, Jr. Quotes: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” “A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.” “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” WOW! I hope you’re as inspired as I am. What an amazing man to say and share such wisdom. He gave his life and didn’t let fear stop him from speaking truth! That is so impressive. If there’s two things that I take away the most from Martin Luther King, Jr. it’s this: Don’t let fear stop you...

How and Why To Make a Vision Board- Part One

Part One- the Why of Making a Vision/Goal Board Last year was the first year I “mapped” out my goals and created a Goal Baord. I created a 2 column list covering everything from my personal, spiritual, business, financial,  musical, and family goals for the year.  I put the list behind my bedroom door, where I have seen it every day while laying in bed, or putting my clothes away. I made myself look at it every month or so to see how on track I was with my goals. In October, I checked my goals and realized I had accomplished over 90% of my yearly goals and even exceeded expectations. I have had a truly blessed and productive year! This year, I am focusing more on how I “feel” about my goals and myself on a daily basis. I am going to also put visuals this year, so creating a Vision Board instead of a Goal Map. I think that visuals will help me attain things that sometimes feel impossible like reaching my goal weight(” come on girl” (said to myself). Photo Courtesy: http://www.mamasblissfulbites.com For my personal Vision Board- I’m going to make Three Columns at least (I will update once the board is created).  The first column will be my DAILY goals. This last year I have realized that by having a daily (and specifically morning) routine where I accomplish my most important daily goals, I am changing my life and being true to myself each day. For example- EVERY day I have the goal to read my bible, pray, meditate, exercise and drink a morning smoothie/juice.  So-...

Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving

Healthy and Happy Thanksgiving Thanksgiving only comes around once a year so why not go ahead and splurge? That’s right, I’m giving you permission- eat what you want and enjoy the fellowship of food, friends and family! Although you should definitely enjoy the day with feasting and fun, you should never eat past when you’re full.   Keep in mind that the human body doesn’t realize that it’s full until 20 minutes after you start eating- so that’s another reason to slow down, and enjoy each bite. Another great way to really enjoy the day, is to plan a fun walk or hike after the big meal! This will help you digest the meal better, and can also be a great time to create fun memories with your loved ones! Whether you go on a hike, go to a park, or even go shopping- get out and have some fun! I hope you have a blessed day with your friends and family. And if for some reason you’re reading this and are sad and lonely- I want you to know you’re not alone. God loves you- if you lived close by I’d invite you over. And instead of focusing on being alone- there’s a lot of soup kitchens and food service companies that need people to visit shut-ins and those less fortunate! Remember to look to serve others, and you will be blessed- as it is truly “better to give than to receive.” *I’d love to hear from you! Please comment below on any fun Thanksgiving plans or recipes you have and share! Thanks for reading and I hope you...
